Valencia Christmas Market 2026-2027 — Plaza del Ayuntamiento Guide

🎄 Christmas Market at Plaza del Ayuntamiento

Dates: The 2026-27 season has not yet been announced. Last year's installation ran 28 November 2025 – 6 January 2026; the city usually publishes the Christmas programme in mid-to-late November.
Location: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Valencia city centre.
Entry to the square: Free.

2026-2027 Christmas Installation

Each winter, Plaza del Ayuntamiento transforms into Valencia's Christmas town. The square hosts a large decorated Christmas tree, traditional wooden chalets selling crafts, food and souvenirs, a family carousel, and an outdoor ice rink — all set against the backdrop of the neoclassical Town Hall and its clock tower.

  • Christmas tree: The centrepiece of the installation, illuminated each evening.
  • Chalets: Wooden stalls offering handmade gifts, seasonal food and hot drinks.
  • Carousel: â‚Ŧ4 per ride — ideal for families with young children.
  • Ice rink: 30-minute sessions, open daily throughout the market period.

Ice Rink — Prices & Hours

The ice rink is the most popular bookable attraction of the Christmas installation. Sessions last 30 minutes and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The prices and hours below are those of the 2025-26 season — the city had not published the 2026-27 programme when this page was last updated.

  • Price: â‚Ŧ7 with one Divertivale pass / â‚Ŧ10 without a Divertivale.
  • Session length: 30 minutes.
  • Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:00–23:00.
  • Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve: 11:00–20:00 on 24 and 31 December.
  • Location: In the square, adjacent to the Christmas tree.

âš ī¸ Check Before You Go

Nothing about the 2026-27 season is confirmed yet. The figures above are the 2025-26 season prices from the official Visit Valencia listing: â‚Ŧ10 for a 30-minute session including skates, or â‚Ŧ7 with one Divertivale. Prices have moved between seasons before (2024-25 was â‚Ŧ9 / â‚Ŧ6), so check the price and whether the Divertivale scheme is running again before you travel.

New Year's Eve 2026

Plaza del Ayuntamiento hosts Valencia's main free New Year's Eve celebration:

  • Entry: Free.
  • Midnight: Chimes and fireworks from the Town Hall terrace (approx. 90 seconds) and from the City of Arts and Sciences (approx. 9 minutes).
  • Square access: The square closes around 20:30 and reopens around 22:00 through marked gates.
  • Children's New Year's Eve: Family-friendly celebrations on the morning of 31 December.

Practical Tips

Best Time to Visit

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to enjoy the Christmas installation, with shorter queues for the carousel and ice rink. Evenings are busier but offer the most atmospheric lighting.

Where to Eat

The chalets themselves serve hot drinks and seasonal snacks. For full meals, the restaurants and tapas bars around the square and along nearby streets offer traditional Valencian cuisine — many stay open late during the Christmas period.

Combine With Nearby Attractions

Plaza del Ayuntamiento sits at the heart of Valencia's historic centre. All of the following are within a short walk:

  • La Lonja de la Seda — the UNESCO-listed Gothic silk exchange, a few minutes' walk from the square.
  • Central Market (Mercado Central) — Europe's largest covered market, about 350-400 metres away.
  • Valencia Cathedral — home of the Holy Chalice, around 600 metres from the square.

💡 Suggested Morning Itinerary

Start at the Christmas market in the morning, then walk to the Central Market for lunch, continue to La Lonja and finish at the Cathedral and Plaza de la Virgen — a compact half-day route through Valencia's finest sights.
