Valencia Ice Rink 2026-2027 β€” Plaza del Ayuntamiento Prices & Hours

iceskating at Plaza del Ayuntamiento

Season: The 2026-27 season has not yet been announced. Last year's installation ran 28 November 2025 – 6 January 2026; the city usually publishes the Christmas programme in mid-to-late November.
Location: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Valencia city centre β€” in the square, beside the Christmas tree.
Entry to the square: Free. The rink is the only paid attraction of the Christmas installation.

Prices

The ice rink is the most popular bookable attraction of Valencia's Christmas town. Sessions last 30 minutes and include skate rental. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the rink-side ticket office. The prices below are those of the 2025-26 season β€” the 2026-27 programme had not been published when this page was last updated.

TicketPrice
30-min session, with one Divertivale (Christmas shopping voucher)€7
30-min session, without a Divertivale€10

πŸ’‘ Save €3 with a Divertivale

Divertivales are free vouchers handed out by historic-centre shops when you buy Christmas gifts. Redeem them at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento ticket office (next to the rink) or on Roger de Lauria Street (next to the shopping train), then use them to bring the rink price down to €7 per session.

Opening Hours

The rink runs daily throughout the Christmas season. Ticket office closes and last admission is one hour before the closing time below.

The hours below are the 2025-26 season hours.

  • Monday – Sunday: 11:00 – 23:00 (last admission 22:00).
  • 24 December (Christmas Eve): 11:00 – 20:00 (last admission 19:00).
  • 31 December (New Year's Eve): 11:00 – 20:00 (last admission 19:00).

⚠️ Early Closing on 24 & 31 December

The rink closes three hours early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Plan an earlier session on those two days β€” the evening slot is the most popular and fills first on weekends.

Session Length & What to Expect

  • Session: 30 minutes on the ice, skate rental included.
  • Booking: First-come, first-served at the rink-side ticket office. No advance online booking is required for the standard session.
  • Capacity: Limited skaters per session to keep the ice comfortable for all abilities β€” beginners and families are welcome.

What to Wear

December in Valencia is cool but rarely freezing: expect temperatures around 10–16Β°C (50–60Β°F), and the rink is outdoors in the open square.

  • Gloves are essential. Even mild falls on synthetic ice feel cold, and hands touch the rink edge most often. Bring your own or buy on site.
  • Warm layers β€” a coat, scarf and hat. You will not overheat while skating, and you will be standing around before and after your session.
  • Flat, closed shoes for walking to and from the rink; the square is paved stone.
  • Children: small gloves and a hat are the most important items. Staff lend basic skating aids to beginners on request.

πŸ’‘ Beginner Tip

If it is your first time on ice, arrive 15–20 minutes before your preferred session so you can register, get skates fitted and take a few practice laps before the main slot begins.

Groups & Families

  • Family discount: there is no formal family ticket, but the €7 Divertivale rate applies to every member of your party who has a voucher β€” so a family of four with vouchers pays €28 total for a session.
  • Best time for families: weekday mornings (11:00–13:00) are the quietest, with the shortest queues and the calmest ice. Saturday afternoons are the busiest.
  • Young children: skating aids are available on request, and the rink edge is padded. Children should stay with an adult at all times β€” the rink is outdoors and the surface is hard around it.
  • Combine with the carousel: the traditional Christmas carousel stands in the same square, a few metres from the rink. It costs €4 per ride and runs on the same schedule (daily 11:00–23:00, 11:00–20:00 on 24 & 31 December). Ask at the ticket office whether one Divertivale can be used across both attractions.

Nearby Indoor Alternatives for Bad Weather

Valencia's winter rain is usually light but the rink is outdoors, so if the weather turns there are excellent covered options within a 10-minute walk:

  • Valencia Central Market (Mercado Central) β€” Europe's largest covered market, about 350–400 metres away. Heated, bustling, and open daily (closed Sundays and public holidays).
  • La Lonja de la Seda β€” the UNESCO-listed Gothic silk exchange, about 400 metres away. A short walk under the archways from the square.
  • Ateneo Sky Bar β€” in the Ateneo Mercantil building on the square itself. €3 entry, credited toward purchases. A warm indoor spot for a drink after skating.
  • City of Arts and Sciences β€” about 2 km south. Fully indoor: the Oceanarium, the Science Museum and the IMAX cinema make it the best wet-weather alternative for a full day out.

How to Get There

The rink is in the centre of Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Valencia city centre.

  • Metro: Lines 3, 5 and 9 β€” XΓ tiva station (200 metres) or ColΓ³n station (500 metres).
  • Tram: Line 10 to Alacant (400 metres).
  • Bus: Lines C1, 6, 8, 11, 35 and 70 all stop at PlaΓ§a de l'Ajuntament.
  • Valenbisi bikes: stations 011, 015, 040 and 017 are in the square itself.

All prices, hours and dates on this page are those of the 2025-26 season, confirmed by the official Visit Valencia listing and historic-centre sources. The 2026-27 Christmas programme has not yet been published by the city council at the time of writing, so whether the season keeps the same dates, the €7/€10 pricing and the Divertivale scheme is not yet known β€” rink prices have changed between seasons before (they rose from €9/€6 in 2024-25) β€” re-check on visitvalencia.com before you travel.
